The happi as the Chef Jacket Hakamagoshi in origin was a short jacket worn by artisans and that used to carry the name or symbol of the employer for whom they worked. However, nowadays, it is more like a Chef’s Jacket, which usually carries the character of matsuri on the back, which means “festival”, and which changes color depending on the company or neighborhood. It is also usually carried by shop assistants, especially if they are on the street promoting the establishment or working as a claimant.
